Easy Access

Travel By Air

Dublin Airport is one of Europe’s busiest airports,  with more than 55 airlines flying to over 170  destinations. Dublin Airport now offers services to  over 30 airports in the UK and the ever-expanding  European network now more than 100 airports.   Aer Lingus is the national carrier and flies from airports all over the world direct into Dublin at very competitive rates.  Ryanair is another well-known carrier, with many alternative departure airports, from Britain and throughout Europe.

Travel By Car Ferry

Even though Ireland is an island, access is easy  by air or sea.   The closest port to Dun Laoghaire is Dublin Port, which is approx 30 minutes by car, depending on time of day. There are excellent ferry connections daily from  the UK and mainland Europe. Rosslare Port is about 2 hours south, and Belfast or Larne Ports are about 2 hours to the north.

Transportation to Dun Laoghaire

From Dublin Airport – Aircoach, also known locally as the “Blue Bus” offers a service from outside the Arrivals Terminal in Dublin Airport. There are 6 different routes, 4 of which go to South Dublin. It is important to choose the correct route.  The direct Aircoach to Dun Laoghaire is the Killiney/Dalkey route.  This service operates hourly and transfer time is approximately 40 mins. Taxis are readily available for hire outside the  airport, and most international car rental companies also  have representation in the airport terminal.

From Dublin City Centre – Dublin City is 8km from Dun Laoghaire. A fast  surface train services (DART) links the venue to  the city within 18 minutes. The station is located  within 100 metres of the clubs.

Dublin Bus services – a fleet of local buses with  a number of stops serving all areas between  Dublin Airport, city centre and surrounding  suburbs. The following bus routes regularly serve Dun Laoghaire: 7, 45a, 46a, 59, 63, 75, 111.

Trains – Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) operates the  nationwide rail network. The DART (Dublin Area  Rapid Transit) is Dublin’s main train service and  stretches the full length of Dublin Bay, from  Malahide in North County Dublin to Greystones  in County Wicklow. It runs every 5-10mins during  peak times and Dun Laoghaire is a featured stop  in South county Dublin.

Car Hire – There is a wide choice of Irish and international car rental companies represented in Dublin.

Please note, there is no free car parking in Dun Laoghaire Harbour. All areas require pay and display or Permit display which vary in cost mainly from €4 – €5 per day, and €20 per week, depending where you park.
